Directions to Sites
(Urban Birds)
- Hilo
From Hilo Airport, take 1) Kanoelehua Avenue South, 2) Kamehameha Avenue (19)
either East or West, or 3) the Saddle Road (200) West through Hilo Town.
- Kailua-Kona
From Hilo, take either the Saddle Road (200) West to junction with Mamalahoa
Highway (190) South and right on Palani Road (total miles-83), or take
Hawaii Belt road (11) South and West past South Point to Kuakini Highway (19).
- Pu`u Anahulu
From Hilo, take Saddle Road (200) West to junction with Mamalahoa Highway
(190), turn left and South about 16 miles past Big Island Country Club
(golf course) and Pu`u Lani Ranch down Pu`u Anahulu escarpment. Entrance
road to Pu`u Wa`awa`a Ranch is on the left just past the bend in the road. From
Kailua- Kona, take Palani Road North to the Mamalahoa Highway and proceed
about 12 miles North and East to the entrance to Pu`u Wa`awa`a Ranch on the
right. The Pu`uanhulu escarpment is a short distance beyond.
