    (Open Country Birds)

  1. Waimea Canyon Road
    From Lihu`e, drive West on Kaumuali`i Highway past the towns of Puhi, Lawai, Kalaheo and Hanapepe to Waimea Town (about 23 miles). Take 1st right after the Waimea Baptist Church on Waimea Canyon Drive (550), mauka. Several lookouts are along the 15 mile road.
     
  2. Hanapepe
    From Lihu`e, take Kaumuali`i Highway (50) (about 17 miles) past Puhi, Lawai and Kalaheo to Hanapepe Town along the Hanapepe River. Visit Salt Pond Beach County Park South and West of the town.
     
  3. Lihu`e Airport
    From Lihu`e, take Kapule Highway (51) North to Ahukini Road, turn right to airport and access to Ahukini Road, thence to Hanamau`ulu Beach County Park and Ahukini Recreational Pier State Park.
     
  4. Princeville
    From Lihu`e, take Kuhio Highway (56) North and West past Kilauea Town, Kalihiwai, Princeville Airport (on the left). Turn right before the hairpin turn into Princeville Resort (2 entrances).
