(Marine Birds)
- Pauwalu Point
From the Kahului Airport, take the Hana Highway (36/360) 34 miles East along
winding road to Ke`anae. Proceed about 1.5 miles to gated road, left,
leading down to coast. Access is restricted (State leased land); call the
State Division of Forestry and Wildlife in Wailuku at (808) 984-8100 for
information on access.
- Hana Coast
From Kahului Airport, take the Hana Highway (36/360) 51 miles East along
winding road to Hana Town. There are several overlooks of the ocean along
the way (Kaumahina State Wayside, Ke`anae Penninsula, Pauwalu Point,
Wainapanapa State Park, Hana Bay).
- West Haleakala Crater
From Kahului Airport, take the Haleakala Highway (37) past Pukalani to the
intersection of the Kula highway (37) and the Haleakala Highway (377); turn
left and proceed South past the Kula Lodge to the intersection with Crater
Road (378); then mauka along winding road to Haleakala National Park. Check in
at the Visitors Center for more information.
- Molokini Island (Molokini Shoal Marine Life Conservation District)
Involves a 15 mile boat ride to the shoal/island from Ma`alaea Boat Harbor or
Lahaina Town. Requires a charter cruise of rental. Contact the several
companies listed in the phone book for reservations and directions to point
of departure.
