    (Marine Birds)

  1. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park (HVNP)
    In Hilo, take Kanoelehua Avenue South connecting to the Hawaii Belt Road (11) 28 miles South and West to HVNP headquarters. From Kailua-Kona, either proceed to Hilo over the Saddle Road (Highway 190 North, 200 East) and then to HVNP (111 miles); or take the Hawaii Belt Road (11), South and East past Kealekekua, Miloli`i and Na`alehu to the HVNP headquarters (92 miles).
     
  2. South Point
    In Hilo, take Kanoelehua Avenue South connecting to the Hawaii Belt Road (11) West past Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, past Pahala to Na`alehu Town (about 80 miles). Continue to Waiohinu and take either Kamaoa Road (past Mark Twain Estates and Discover Harbour) or South Point Road South to the point (about 12 miles). From Kailua-Kona take the Hawaii Belt Road (11) South past Kealekekua, Miloli`i and Ocean View Estates to Waiohinu and South Point (about 65 miles).
     
  3. Upolu Point
    From Hilo, take the Hawaii Belt Road (19) North past Honoka`a, then West past Waimea (Kamuela) on the Kawaihae Road (19) to the Akoni Pule Highway (270) North past Mahukona to the Upolu Road on the left. Proceed to the Upolu Airport (about 96 miles total). From Kailua-Kona, proceed North on the Queen Ka`ahumanu Highway (19) past Kawaihae and Mahukona to the Upolu Road and the point (about 60 miles total).
